EASTMAN KODAK OFFERS TO BUY GETTY ARCHIVES
Rochester, NY – Eastman Kodak announced today that they have tendered
an offer to purchase the film archive from Getty Images. “Our intent
is to recycle the residual silver contained within the film” according
to Victoria Paula Smithe, Vice President of Sales.
With silver prices hovering at current levels of $20 dollars, it is
speculated that silver will surpass the $50 mark by fourth quarter of
2008, a level seen in the late 80′s when the Hunt brothers cornered
the silver commodities market. “Inflation adjusted at $20, it looks
cheap” according to commodities broker, Tek Panning, of Edward,
Peters, Nani, EPP.
According to Tom Xaiver spokesperson for Kodak, “This is not a totally
black and white process and there will be some issues that will need
to be fixed and cleared, but if silver stays above $18.00 with stop losses in place,
expectations are the recycling process will be both efficient and
profitable… [snip test] additionally if valuable ideas are
discovered during the process, we will consider recycling those as
well at a reduced cost of actually have to create our own.”
When Corbis was asked to comment, the fledgling public relations team
stated they were unfamiliar with the secret Silver F.I.L.M. version of
the DOS.
